Colombia Artesanal is a project made by Artesanías de Colombia. It pays tribute to the idea that, behind every artisan, there is a story, a face, a pair of hands, and a family. We created a web platform with the purpose guiding trips around the country, discovering the mastery of the crafting trades and the artisans behind them. These people have been carefully selected by the Artesanías de Colombia team. Visitors can get to know these fascinating creators, their different crafts and techniques, and the traditional knowledge that has been passed down from generation to generation. All of this is made through 15 artisan tourist trails that are associated with different corridors, heritage towns, Certificate of Origin awards, artisan vocations, and expressions of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

We hope that every person who enters an artisan’s workshop can appreciate their craft, value their trade, and eventually become an ambassador. The crafts they get to discover will become reminders of all the work done by the many talented hands they met along the way.

In partnership with tour operators from each region, as well as with relevant national and international agencies, this map invites you to discover Colombia from novel and different angles. You will witness how the crafts you love are made. Moreover, you will come to understand the history, landscape, and customs that surround them. We also aim to create additional income for the artisans through demonstrations of their work and workshops, as well as through direct sales of their crafts. This is our greatest bet to enrich Colombia’s cultural tourism experience: to bring the craftspeople who are keeping these traditions alive to the forefront.
